I can’t believe it! I pivoted in my business from photographer to content creator. Never would I have thought that I would be where I am today, but I am grateful! It took me learning from past mistakes and walking out in faith. This website used to be all about brand and interior photography. So, how exactly did I go from photographer to content creator?
It all began with me wanting to honor the Lord with my passion for photography. I had this vision to share God’s Word by taking pictures of landscapes and nature and putting scripture on the photos. But my life was a hot mess! I was living in sin, drinking and partying. I guess you could say I had one foot in and one foot out. My mindset was not right, and I was believing lies. For example, the lie that my worth was in a successful career rather than the Lord.
Those lies led me down a spiraling detour. I thought I was honoring God, but in reality, I was broken and needed a Savior. However, not knowing what I needed, I continued down this road and decided to pick up family photography, thinking this would help me be more successful. And when that didn’t work, I decided to take a break from photography. A much-needed break when everything changed.
During this break, I completely surrendered to the Lord, turned from my sin, and got healthy. By far the best decision I have ever made. After a year of getting right with the Lord, I decided to pick up photography again. But this time I was going to follow the Lord and truly serve Him through it. I renamed my business and even started in a new and upcoming photography niche. That’s when brand photography came into my life. And eventually I added interior photography as well. But things didn’t seem quite right. I often felt like I was forcing things, but I wanted to be sure. So I prayed and prayed. I prayed for God’s Will, not mine.
Then, the Lord gave me an idea to start a blog project interviewing local mompreneurs. I was scared to step out of my comfort zone, but I took the leap of faith. You can read those interviews in the previous blog posts. While interviewing these amazing women, God spoke to me. It was never photography He wanted me to pursue, but it was to encourage women. And that’s how I went from a photographer to a content creator. Now could I have continued in brand photography and encourage women at the same time? At this point in my life I believe not, because my focus would stray from time to time, and I would lose my joy. After talking with my awesome business coach, she said she seen my face light up when I spoke about the Lord and that whatever I did He needed to be the center of that. Deep down I knew she was right.
His ways are way better! I’ve had so much peace and joy sharing about Him. I still love photography, but now I can enjoy it in a whole new light. This process taught me that God is always there, working behind the scenes. His love is unconditional. So if you are struggling with not knowing what to do, focus on Him. He will not fail you friend!
