The Fancy Marshmallow Co

The Fancy Marshmallow Company started with an idea and is located in Cedar Park, TX. The owner Tina Ciotti’s daughter’s birthday was coming up, and she wanted a s’mores birthday party. So Tina researched and made homemade marshmallows. While making the marshmallows, Tina thought of creating fun marshmallows for adults by adding alcohol. After some trial and error in finding the recipe, Tina finally had the perfect marshmallow combination.

When Tina’s friend told her she should take pictures of the marshmallows and share them on Instagram, Tina began to launch the smores kits. She had no idea what would even come of sharing these fancy marshmallow kits, but in her first weekend of posting, she received 16 orders. Tina noticed that the marshmallows with alcohol didn’t do as well in sales as the fun and colorful marshmallows, so the best solution was to stop making the ones with alcohol. With all the orders coming in, it was time for Tina to make taking orders more accessible so she set up a new website.

This little business was growing, and it was evident when a $14,000 corporate order came in. Tina realized she didn’t have the space for such a massive order. At that moment she knew she needed to look for a commercial space. When Tina and her husband found the perfect location they began renovating. They officially opened their doors on December 10,2022. After two years of running her marshmallow business out of her home, her vision became so much more than she ever imagined.

Opening a storefront was a hard obstacle for Tina. She said the building process took up more time than she anticipated. But through the journey she learned a lot, like learning to let go, not to spend too much time worrying about the little details (like packaging), and to look at the bigger picture. Her advice to other mompreneurs is….to not let what others thinks affect you negatively. There will be haters and those that think you are crazy, but it it all around, and look at the positives. The rest is all a learning experience.

Tina, thank you for sharing your story with me. You have such a beautiful store! You and your husband did a fantastic job. And your fancy marshmallows are amazing! I never seen anything like them before, they are definitely one-of-a-kind. I pray that you are blessed and that when others taste your marshmallows, they will know they’re made with love.
